Today, the Laxmi Vilas Palace remains the residence of the Gaekwad family, making it one of the few royal palaces in India still in use by the original royal family. Parts of the palace and the grounds are open to the public, including the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum, which provides a glimpse into the royal family’s history and their collection of art and artifacts.
